Christmas is my favorite time of year, I love everything about it. The bright lights, cheery music, yummy baked goods, fun traditions. Everything!
My mom always has the most glorious Christmas trees, it is hard to look at anything else but the tree when you’re n the room.
My Christmas tree hasn’t reached the glorious stage yet.. Maybe one day!
Every year we like to drive up to a little town called Mount Airy and do some Christmas shopping. I love all the decorated storefronts!
We would put a train around my Mom’s tree and watch the cats go crazy, stalking it and batting at it. Sometimes we’d hide a treat inside the train cars and the cats would chase it around!
Baking is a big part of the Christmas season and we have some old favorites we like to bake every year, pistachio chocolate chip cookies, ginger cookies and tiny pecan pies.
Every now and then we bake sugar cookies, they’re a lot of work, but it’s fun to decorate each one uniquely!
Three Christmases ago I got my camera! I was so surprised when I saw it sitting there under the tree, my eyes got wide and I just stared at box for a while.. Then I posed for this picture. (Thanks Mom!)
It’s so much fun to unpack the ornaments every year and see all our favorites.
This little Santa guy is my favorite!
The nutcrackers stand guard over my mom’s Christmas candy.
Last year my mom threw a super fun Christmas party, with hot cocoa and cookies. I can’t wait to do it again this year!
I love going anywhere at night during Christmas time, and seeing all the houses brightly lit in colorful lights!
And of course, drinking a mug of hot cocoa in front of the fireplace and a sparkly tree on a chilly winter’s night is one of favorite things!
What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?
I miss my mother's Christmas traditions so much, and I'm so sad that I'm too far away this year to enjoy it. She's so tradition-happy and festive, it's contagious. We actually used to have 2 Christmas trees when I was a kid, because she loved decorating them so much and couldn't decide on just one theme.
Also, I had to comment because that pink rug you're sitting on in the picture with your camera? We had that EXACT same rug. It made me smile 🙂
This year, hoping to just grin & bear it until next year when we can really do our own thing!!! #moving

Wow, your mum's tree is seriously impressive! I love that you have your traditions, we also have ours (certain fodod on certain days, cheesy music etc) and without them it wouldn't be Christmas, wouldn't it?
Have a great day,
-Kati
your christmas traditions and photos are just wonderful! oh my goodness that beautiful tree in the old house and all the decorations are just stunning, how awesome that christmas party must be!
thank you for sharing this, everything is just so pretty.
some of the little traditions that make it Christmas is making gingerbread houses the saturday before, watching It's a Wonderful LIfe on the day before christmas eve, and lots of baking and decorating cookies on the eve!
That sounds a lot like my mom! I definitely get my Christmas spirit from her. That's awesome you had the same rug!! Haha! Hope you still have a nice Christmas despite all the moving 🙂
It certainly wouldn't! Gotta love the cheesy music 😀
Thanks! We haven't made a gingerbread house in years, but it's always a lot of fun to do.
I just love vintage and old family ornaments don't you? There are so many wonderful memories attached to them! Merry Christmas doll!

The Christmas spirit is admittedly quite low for me, but looking at your pictures really got me in the mood! I think finals took all of my focus, but now that they are over it's like “Wow, Christmas is almost here!”
Your mom's tree is just amazing! I pictured a giant ladder going straight to the top, haha. It can't even be contained in a picture!
Thanks so much, sweetie! I Love your little tree, too, it's perfect for that corner & the 3 kitty kats. So many glorious photos depicting our wonderful Christmas traditions. PS I'm baking up some of those cookies tomorrow!!
So much Christmas! I love it! Those cookies look awesome.
I love digging out all the old Christmas ornaments, they always bring back so many memories – whether they were gifted or home made. It's always fun to add a couple of new ones each year and add to the personalisation. i'm all about food traditions at Christmas, the more homemade the better!
